Salsa Vibes

I took the liberty of remixing a classic salsa tune by late Fania recording artist Louie Ramirez, who's known in the boogaloo/salsa world as the "Quincy Jones of Salsa". "Salsa Vibes" appears on his 1978 release titled Louie Ramirez Y Sus Amigos.

Ramirez being highly regarded in Salsa, Boogaloo, and Latin Jazz, was a composer, percussionist, vibraphonist, and also a sideman and production assistant on many artists' recordings. He's worked with the likes of Willie Colon, Johnny Pacheco, both Charlie Palmieri and Joe Cuba in 1965 to 1968, and partnered with Tito Rodriguez to release Tito Rodríguez y Louie Ramírez En Algo Nuevo LP in 1972.

Happy Birthday Kiawitl Xochitl

Big respect to Kiawitl Xochitl, who I fondly know as Lady Binx, an Xicana Indigena hip hop artist and speaker based in Houston who raises cultural awareness in the community through her art. She's 1/3 of the hip hop crew Almas Intocables and a gifted drummer. She's also the producer, MC, and performer on her Hip-Hop show style forum called the Underground Merger that helps promote unity.

Outside of her great looks, what's also attractive is to see her perform side by side with her husband Jehuniko. To hear samples of her music and to get more info, log on to her Myspace page at KiawitlXochitl.

"I paint with sound and create with the light of harmonic vibrations."

Happy 60th: Stevie Wonder

If you ask the question of who is the greatest song writer to ever live, my answer will be Stevie Wonder. With a music career spanning more than 45 years, scoring 16 studio albums that featured some of the best musical talents, having recorded more than thirty U.S. top ten hits and won twenty-two Grammy Awards, the most ever won by a solo artist.

Although Mr. Wonder is blind, his s creativity to write and compose can naturally amaze listeners. If you listen closely to his compositions, he will take you on a journey to make you see deeper than what the eyes normally see. I'm gratefully thankful to live in the time of this amazing artist, and hope that he's around for many, many more years to come.
