Bola: Abayetidu Ma

Bola originally released his Volume 7 on CD and cassette tape in 2009. Now, Awesome Tapes From Africa has taken the reigns to remaster and re-release this classic that has pushed the envelope of traditional African sounds. Bola plays the kologo, a two-stringed lute with a calabash gourd resonator, traditionally used for griot-style storytelling, fusing it with new age electronic instrumentation with a popular twist, which takes Ghanaian music to new heights.

"Abayetidu Ma" is the first single from the album that will hit retail on April 3rd on limited edition cassettes, CD and LP. Although I don't know what the title means (and I have looked it up), doesn't mean that it didn't make my entire being want to get up and move to the rhythms. I'm really looking forward to purchasing this on vinyl and rockin' it during one of my sets. Kick off your shoes, press play, then be prepared to let your spirit soar. ENJOY!
